Neighbor Brigade Grows into 10 New Communities including a re-opening in Mansfield MA!
Mansfield MA February 13, 2017 – Neighbor Brigade, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that helps families and individuals facing a sudden crisis, announced today it has reopened in Mansfield MA. There has been a flurry of new chapter activity, adding 10 new chapters in recent months bringing its total number of chapters to 30. Seven of the new chapters are in Eastern Massachusetts, including Acton-Boxborough, Concord-Carlisle, Mansfield, Maynard, Newton, Norton, and Plainville, with the other three new chapters outside of Massachusetts in Suffield CT, Barrington RI, and Freeport, ME.
The Mansfield MA was restarted thanks to the interest of their Chapter Leader, Lorraine Britting, a Mansfield resident since 1994 who volunteered with Neighbor Brigade and wanted to reactivate a valuable resource in her town.

The Executive Director of Neighbor Brigade, Polly Mendoza explains, “There seems to be more of a desire lately for taking action and bringing people together in a positive way. Whether it is due to new year’s resolutions or the political climate, we are happy to see more volunteers signing up to help those that are experiencing a temporary crisis in their town. No matter who you are, what social class, age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity, we all know how wonderful it feels to have someone reach out to us during our time of need with a helping hand.”
Since 2010 Neighbor Brigade has been mobilizing community volunteers to step in with non-medical assistance when families or individuals are experiencing a temporary crisis. There are well over 3,000 volunteers that provide non-medical, non-monetary services and collaborate with the shared purpose of helping fellow residents. There are no eligibility requirements for recipients. Neighbor Brigade is immediate, efficient and free and provides temporary support in the form of meals, rides and household errands to those affected while strengthening the fabric of a community. We are proud to share that in 2016 alone the Neighbor Brigade Chapters performed 2,751 acts of kindness to their neighbors totaling almost 6,000 hours of service.
