Mansfield Police Investigating Death at Mill Pond
A body was found Sunday morning after a weekend-long search by police.

MANSFIELD, MA - Police are investigating an apparent death at Mill Pond.
At about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, a local family told police that they had not heard from their adult son. A search through Sunday morning led police to Mill Pond off of East Street, with evidence on scene suggesting that the victim fell through the ice, according to Mansfield police.
At 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning, the body of the missing person was recovered by the Mansfield Fire Department in about 10 feet of water.

The death is under investigation by the Mansfield Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. The identity of the victim is being held pending notification of all family members.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this tragedy,” the police department wrote on Facebook.

Police Chief Ronald Sellon announced on Twitter that no other information would be released Sunday due to the ongoing investigation.
