Mansfield Solar Farm Nearing Completion

The 5,000-panel solar farm could be producing power by early next year.

MANSFIELD, MA — A 5,000-panel solar farm located on Branch Street is nearly done and could power up in January.

The owners of the farm told the selectmen, acting as electric commissioners last week that the project is 85 percent completed and could be turned on early next year, the Sun Chronicle reported.

In December 2014, the board voted to buy power from the farm.

The board said they were concern with a change in ownership. The original owner, Branch Street Solar Partners, was recently taken over by Florida-based Sun Financial.

The project produced some controversy when it was announced. During the original 2014 vote, many residents voiced their disapproval of the farm.
