Mansfield Selectmen Approve Extended Banner Period
There will now be signs above Route 106 through mid-November.

Event banners will hang over Route 106 for two additional weeks in November.
This week, the selectmen, acting as light commissioners, voted 3-2 to allow banners over Route 106 near the North Common through Nov. 15, shortening the blackout period to Nov. 15 to Feb. 15.
Doug Annino and Frank DelVecchio both voted against the motion.

Much of the discussion centered around if it was possible to add the banners due to the season greetings sign that is placed over the street for the holiday season. Gary Babin, director of the Mansfield Municipal Electric Department, said the holiday decorations would not be affected.
Six groups had requested banner space in November, with four being rejected and two are scheduled to go up in October. Currently, town policy allows for two banners at a time for no more than two weeks per sign.
