Mansfield Wrestling Defeats Sharon

The Mansfield High School wrestling team defeated host Sharon, 59-23, on Monday.

The Hornets recieved wins from senior Brett Reed at 103 pounds; sophomore Avrain Dawkins at 112 pounds; sophomore Joe Heric at 125 pounds; senior Dominick Auld at 130 pounds; junior Tom McGuire at 135 pounds; senior Ryan McCaffrey at 145 pounds; junior Dan Gilmore at 152 pounds; junior Tyler Budwey at 189 pounds; and senior Mike Trowbridge at heavyweight, and a win from junior Derrion Walker at 160 pounds.

"The guys we expected pins from, we got them from, and everybody else on the team wrestled tough," Mansfield assistant coach Mike Pailler said.

"We got some good contributions from our lightweights, and our heavyweights have been doing good all year."

Sharon had wins from senior captain Jay Delgadillo and sophomores Brad Schiff, Luke Coughlin and Brian Kan.

Delgadillo pinned Mansfield sophomore Sam McGoughlin at 119 pounds. Schiff defeated Mansfield sophomore Jake McCaffrey at 140 pounds. And Coughlin pinned Mansfield senior Sean Hansen at 171 pounds.

Kan won at 215 pounds by forfeit.

Kan is among several sophomores in Sharon's lineup this season.

"Hopefully, at some point, they just turn that corner. Hopefully by February," Sharon head coach Anthony Lucie said.
