Mansfield's Rhett Wiseman is getting to play for the Cape Cod League title in his first year in the league. The Cotuit Kettleers defeated the Bourne Braves, 4-3, Monday afternoon to take the series two games to one.Cotuit will now play the Orleans Firebirds for the league crown.
The Vanderbilt University is batting .217 with a homer and three RBI in two playoff series. During the regular season, Wiseman batted .294 with 14 doubles, two triples, four homers and 25 RBI. He also showed a lot of speed on the base paths with 12 stolen bases.For his efforts, Wiseman was named to the Cape Cod League all-star team.
Wiseman, who was drafted by Chicago Cubs in the 25th round out of Buckingham Browne & Nichols, will be going into his second season at Vanderbilt. As a freshman, he batted .289 in 54 games with three homers and 17 RBI. Wiseman was also perfect in the stolen base department, going six for six.
