MHS Entrepreneurs Make Donation to the Edgewood Church of Christ
Students ran a successful small business to raise money for the youth program.
Mansfield High School’s Entrepreneurship students successfully ran a small business selling custom Mansfield sunglasses during the spring trimester. Students presented their business proposals to each other and decided as a group to pursue the sunglasses project. They collaborated to design the logo that would be printed on the sunglasses, and then worked on how to market the business and increase sales. After analyzing their finances, students determined that $506 would be donated to the Edgewood Church of Christ youth program in honor of Shane Farrell. This is the largest amount donated by any class completing this project.
Since the inception of this “small business” project in Mrs. Prester’s Entrepreneurship classes, students have donated over $5,100 to local charities and organizations, while also funding future trimesters of Entrepreneurship students to complete the same project. The project was born from a grant awarded by the Mansfield Education Foundation to increase classroom innovation and authentic learning experiences.
