MHS Entrepreneurs Make Donation to the Mansfield Animal Shelter

Students ran a successful small business to raise money for the animals.

Mansfield High School’s Entrepreneurship students successfully ran a small business selling Mansfield cell phone wallets during the spring trimester. Students presented their business proposals to each other and decided as a group to pursue the cell phone wallets as their product. They worked together to market the business and increase sales, and sold over 300 cell phone wallets! After analyzing their finances, they determined that $275 would be donated to the Mansfield Animal Shelter. In addition, students made $75 in loans to aspiring entrepreneurs in developing countries through Kiva.org. Kiva allows people to lend money to entrepreneurs in eighty-two countries around the world.

Since the inception of this “small business” project in the Entrepreneurship classes, students have donated over $6,300 to local charities and organizations, while also funding future trimesters of Entrepreneurship students to complete the same project. The project was born from a grant awarded by the Mansfield Education Foundation to increase classroom innovation and authentic learning experiences
