Mansfield High Prepares for Track Renovation
Track renovation to go forward at Mansfield High School.

The Mansfield School Committee is going forward with the track and field area at .
Actual work on the field will start on May 25 and continue through the summer until Sept. 1. Superintendent Brenda Hodges said that the work will cause disruption with summer sports programs that usually use the space, including summer camps and Mansfield’s Relay for Life, but said that other locations have been provided.
This year’s relay will take place at the Jordan Jackson School.

“They came in and then walked that area and they came back and said we can do this,” Hodges said. “They were pretty pleased with it. They hadn’t realized how they would be able to utilize it. Once they walked it and really looked at where they could put everything they were fine.”
MHS principal Michael Connolly said that no coaches of the summer camps voiced an issue with losing use of the field.

Mansfield Schools’ Director of Finance and Operations Edward Vozzella said that the architect is currently drawing up the final plans for the project.
“Mike [School Committee Chair Michael Trowbridge] and Mr. Romado, the architect, have been working with each other to finalize the project,” he said. “That’s an indication that they bid could be put together in the next two to three weeks.”
