Nearly 700 Grams of Cocaine Seized in Mansfield Traffic Stop: Police

MANSFIELD, MA — A Middleboro man was allegedly caught with nearly 700 grams of cocaine on Interstate 95 in Mansfield, state police said.

Jason Kahian, 22, was arrested Sunday and charged with unlawful possession of a stun gun and drug trafficking. He was arraigned Monday in Attleboro District Court, according to the Sun Chronicle.

At 5:30 p.m., Sunday, an officer approached Kahian while he was sitting in his vehicle in a rest area on the northbound side of the highway. Kahian was initially arrested after a stun gun was allegedly found inside the vehicle, but state police obtained a search warrant after a K9 dog detected drugs.

State police allegedly found 698 grams of cocaine in the car, two $1,000 bundles of cash in a safe, and $1,380 cash in Kahian’s pocket.

Public defender Jennifer Coliflores, who represented Kahian, suggested that the search was unlawful.

Kahian was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail. He is due back in court

April 3.
