New Bedford Man Charged With 5 Car Break-Ins In Mansfield

Derek Dejesus broke into five cars​ on Westview Drive, Lancashire Drive, and Williams Street, prosecutors said.

MANSFIELD, MA — A New Bedford man was arraigned Wednesday on charges he broke into five car in West Mansfield last October. Derek Dejesus, 43, pleaded not guilty to five counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, and one count of conspiracy.

Dejesus broke into five cars on Westview Drive, Lancashire Drive, and Williams Street on Oct. 15, prosecutors told the Sun Chronicle. He's being held on $20,000 bail at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility, stemming from 18 other car break-ins on Cape Cod Dejesus is charged with.

His co-defendant in the Mansfield case, Micahel Cossaboom, 40, of New bedford, did not show up for court, according to court records. A warrant has been put out for his arrest.

Dejesus is scheduled to appear in Attleboro District Court again on May 21.
