
MANSFIELD, MA — It's official, the 2017 Mansfield Town Election will have no challengers, pending a surprise write-in candidate.
Tuesday was the last day to return nomination papers and a total of five residents, all incumbents have decided to run this year.
In the selectmen's race, Chairman Jess Aptowitz and Frank DelVecchio are running for reelection. School Committee Charwoman Kiera O’Neil is also running for reelection. Lauren Scher, who was appointed to the school committee seat vacated by current selectman Michael Trowbridge, will appear on the ballot for the first time.

Longtime moderator Robert Saquet is seeking another term.
The Mansfield Town Election will take place on May 9.
