No Jail Time for Mansfield Man in Standoff
Franklin Goodman III, 61, admitted in Attleboro District Court that he improperly stored a gun during a standoff with police at his home

MANSFIELD, MA — A Mansfield man who was involved in a five-hour standoff will be placed on probation.
Franklin Goodman III, 61, admitted in Attleboro District Court that he improperly stored a gun during a standoff with police at his Balcom Street home, according to the Sun Chronicle. A SWAT team was called in and police shut down the neighborhood during their response.
Police were called to the home after a family member called concerned about Goodman's well being. After police determined that he was incapacitated, they entered the house and found eight weapons, including a .45 caliber handgun in a basement ceiling tile.

Goodman was found passed out from medication.
Goodman was sentenced to six months in jail with the term suspended for one year and mental health counseling.
