North Attleboro Woman Charged in Mansfield Break-in

A North Attleboro woman faces multiple charges after breaking into a Mansfield home, police say.
Katie Lynn Hayes, 25, of North Attleboro, was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, breaking and entering a building, larceny over $250, and two counts of receiving stolen property.
At around 6:26 a.m., police received a 911 call from a Smith Road home reporting a woman inside stealing items. According to a police investigation, Hayes allegedly looked through the two cars at the home before removing a window air conditioner on the first floor and entering the home.

After entering the home and taking items of value, Hayes was confronted by the homeowner. Hayes fled after the victim called 911, but police located her walking down the road away from the home with the assistance of the homeowners, who tracked the suspect until police arrived.
Hayes is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Attleboro District Court.
