Police Blame Mansfield Crash And Road Closure On Drunken Driver

Police said the suspect's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit when she struck a pole and closed the road for several hours.

MANSFIELD, MA — A Middleborough woman was charged with drunk driving on Sunday after police said she crashed into utility pole and closed part of Mill Street for several hours.

Allison Porter, 28, pleaded not guilty in Attleboro District Court on Monday to driving under the influence, driving to endanger, and marked lane violations the Sun Chronicle reported.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, police said Porter's car snapped a utility pole. The road was closed between Ephriam Drive and Canoe River Campground for several hours while Verizon crews replaced the telephone pole. When police breathalyzed Porter, they said her blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit, the Sun Chronicle reported.

Porter was released on personal recognizance.
