Police Log: Attleboro Man Charged With Burglary

The following is from the Mansfield Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned they do not indicate convictions.

Tuesday, Dec. 17

At 8:45 a.m., police responded to a North Main Street business concerning a burglary. Someone smashed a front window to enter the business.

At 12:30 p.m., an East Street resident reported that a man was attempting to enter a home. He also tried the house across the street before leaving in a yellow pickup truck.

Wednesday, Dec. 18

At 1:23 a.m., police responded to Branch Street after a pedestrian was struck by a car. The 58-year-old pedestrian reported having back pain, but declined being taken to a hospital. Police cited the drive to failing to use caution and speeding.

At 11:38 a.m., a Kybren Circle resident reported that a neighbor’s front door was open and the dogs were out. The caller said this is uncharacteristic. Police secured the dogs, conducted a walk through and didn’t find any problems. Officers put the dogs back into the house and left a message for the homeowner.

At 6:32 p.m., police received a call from Cobb Street after someone broke into a car. A pocketbook with about $40 and two check books were taken.

 

Thursday, Dec. 19

At 12:39 p.m., police received a report that a motorist left his car door ajar on School Street. It blew open and struck another vehicle’s mirror, causing minor damage.

At 12:52 p.m., police responded to Copeland Drive concerning a report of a man with a rifle. He was reportedly pointing it toward cars. Police spoke to the man who did not have a rifle, but he did have a large snow brush and was clearing snow off his car's roof.

At 7:47 p.m., police responded to Chauncy Street about a man acting suspiciously in a vehicle. The caller reported the man was slumped over the wheel and was asleep. He woke up and flailed his arms and screamed, according to the caller. An officer spoke to the “suspicious” man who was waiting for his friend to finish shopping.

At 7:51 p.m., police arrested James P. Drewnowski, 50, 69 Creeden St., Apt. B, Mansfield, and charged him with domestic assault and battery.

At 10:29 p.m., police arrested Michael J. Kane II, 36, 34 Pine St., Attleboro, and charged him with breaking and entering into a building during the nighttime. Police made the arrest after a burglar alarm was activated during an attempted break-in at a Chauncy Street business.
