Police Log: Car vs. Pole, Shoplifting, and More

April 26

9:44 a.m. - During a motor vehicle stop near Carwash Pros on Chauncy Street, Philip Pignone, 66, of Mansfield, was arrested on a warrant and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

5:33 p.m. - Police arrested two people on shoplifting charges at CVS at Chauncy Street. Alycia Dougherty, 28, of Newport, R.I., was charged with shoplifting over $100 by concealing merchandise. Dennis McGovern, 47, of Newport, R.I., was charged on a warrant, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and selling/possessing an electric stun gun.

10:41 p.m. - A caller reported a motor vehicle that struck a pole at Essex and Mill Streets before leaving the area. Police were able to locate the vehicle after it was seen running a stop sign at East and Pratt Streets. The driver, a 17-year-old juvenile, received a summons for leaving the scene of property damage.

April 28

9:36 p.m. - During a motor vehicle stop near Dunkin’ Donuts on Chauncy Street, a 21-year-old male from Bellingham received a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
