Police Log: Smashing Into Snowbanks, Assault on a Police Officer, and More

February 18

1:03 a.m. - A car bounced off a snowbank on Chauncy Street twice. The operator left the train station without cleaning the windshield, causing her to hit the snowbank.

2:49 a.m. - During a motor vehicle stop on Copeland Drive, Matthew Grimes, 21, of Mansfield, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

2:40 p.m. - Joel Winslow, 27, of Dorchester, was arrested on Franklin Street and charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony.

4:39 p.m. - Police received a 911 call for a large pickup truck striking snowbanks and other vehicles. An officer witnessed the truck crashing into a snowbank near Citco. After a field sobriety test, Matthew Petty, 34, of Mansfield, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of property damage, his second operating under the influence of liquor offense, a modifying motor vehicle height offense, operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger, and having a tire outside the fender.

February 20

12:40 a.m. - A 45-year-old male from Portsmouth, RI at the Holiday Inn was taken into protective custody.

12:45 p.m. - A male with a very large bag shoplifting at Kohl’s was reported. Police were unable to find the vehicle he left in but a cell phone dropped at the scene was taken as evidence.

10:10 p.m. - A summons was issued on Franklin Street for assault and battery on a police officer.

February 21

11:12 p.m. - A juvenile was issued a summons on East Street for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and use of a motor vehicle without authority.
