Police Log: Stolen Car Registrations, Shoplifting, and More

The following is from the Mansfield Police Log. Where arrests and charges are mentioned, they do not imply conviction.

September 26

1:41 a.m. - During a motor vehicle stop on North Main Street police issued two summons to a 29-year-old male from Easton for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to notify the RMV of an address change, and speeding and a 27-year-old female from Bloomfield, NJ for allowing the operation of a motor vehicle without a license.

6:49 a.m. - A resident reported to police that his vehicle’s registration was taken from his vehicle on Darby Street last night. He stated that his car was unlocked and was in his driveway.

The person refused any police assistance. He also stated a neighbor has told him this morning that their registration is missing as well.

7:20 a.m. - A resident reported to police that a set of car keys, and two registrations were taken from her vehicles on Darby Street sometime last night. She denied hearing any activity outside her residence at any time during the evening. She also stated that her neighbor also on Darby Street had a registration taken from his vehicle as well.

9:38 a.m. - The reporting party told police that her motor vehicle was broken into last night but nothing was taken. She does not wish to speak with an officer at this time

12:54 p.m. - During a motorcycle stop on North Main Street, a summons was issued to a 19-year-old male from Norton for operating a motor vehicle in violation of a license restriction, having no helmet on the motorcycle passenger, and for not having a license in possession.

1:47 p.m. - After receiving a report of a shoplifter at CVS on Chauncy Street, police arrested and charged Thomas Hopkins, 39, of Dorchester with shoplifting by concealing merchandise and with a warrant.

September 27

12:28 p.m. - A summons was issued to a 46-year-old male from Norton at Advantage Appliance on North Main Street for larceny over $250.
