Police Log: Suspicious Salesman, Driving a Moped With a Suspended License, and More

The following is from the Mansfield Police Log. Where arrests and charges are mentioned, they do not imply conviction.

September 10

9:25 a.m. - The reporting party on Ian Keats Drive called police to report suspicious behavior that occurred during the previous day.

The reporting party said a male party claiming to be a salesman from Verizon came to the door and was insistent on knowing the time that the person’s husband would return home.

The man claiming to be a salesman came back when the husband came home and said his sales tactics were uncomfortably aggressive. The reporting party called Verizon and they claimed to have no knowledge of the man. According to police, there are no active permits for Verizon personnel.

11:19 a.m. - A resident on Connors Avenue called to report that their vehicle was broken into overnight last night. An officer responded and reported that a GPS and a pair of sunglasses were taken.

12:15 p.m. - A person told police his motor vehicle was broken into while parked at Stop & Shop yesterday between 1:45 p.m. and 2:10 p.m. The person reported that his HP placard was taken from the vehicle.



September 11

12:45 p.m. - After discovering a driver on a moped at the intersection of East Street and Sterns Avenue, police arrested and charged Matthew Sullivan, 23 of East Bridgewater with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a scooter violation for not having a registration sticker, and a scooter violation for operating after dark.

11:51 a.m. - The reporting party called to report suspicious activity from earlier in the morning at Cumberland Farms. The person told police that a middle eastern male walked into the shop this morning and spoke about today being a happy holiday.

An officer spoke to the cashier at Cumberland Farms who knows the man as a regular customer. The man is a white male and was joking. The reporting party simply took offense to the comment.
