Police Log: Throwing Pennies, Car vs. Bike, and More
The following is from the Mansfield Police Log. Where arrests and charges are mentioned, they do not imply conviction.
August 28
1:15 p.m. - After a motor vehicle stop near Memorial Park, a 23-year-old male from Mansfield was placed in protective custody and charged with operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration.
5:27 p.m. - Two females throwing pennies at motorists from the top of the overpass on Chauncy Street were reported to police. An office spoke to the females, who admitted to dropping pennies and their parents.

August 29

3:21 p.m. - A male with a family panhandling outside Longhorn Steakhouse on West Street was reported.
7:34 p.m. - Police received a report of a male with a backpack yelling at passengers on Mansfield Avenue who was very unsteady on his feet.
When police arrived they arrested a 33-year-old Boston man and charged him with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, possession of heroin, and possession of a class E drug. Charges in the case were eventually dropped.
8:09 p.m. - A person reported that her front plates were stolen sometime during the week while she was at work.
August 30
12:20 a.m. - A summons was written at Cumberland Farms on Chauncy Street for having an uninsured motor vehicle and an unregistered motor vehicle.
4:04 p.m. - A detail officer at the Xfinity Center reported a dog locked in a car. Mansfield Fire made entry into the car and took the dog to the station.
Later, the owner of the dog was located and advised of the complaint.
August 31
12:54 a.m. - A caller reported to police a group of four people being loud behind a building on Erick Road. The group was advised of the complaint.
2:17 p.m. - Addressing a disabled motor vehicle on East Street, police arrested Anna Litterio, 51, of Mansfield with a warrant.
5:52 p.m. - Police responded to a car vs. bicycle accident at the intersection of Franklin Street and Pineneedle Lane. The operator of the car was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger and a passing violation for overtaking a bicycle unsafely.
September 2
11:18 a.m. - Stop and Shop called police to reported a shoplifter. While checking CVS, police found the man described by the store. When the suspected was contacted by police, he said a male in a red Camaro recruited him to steal on his behalf and offered him a cut of the profits made from the stole goods.
After a search did not turn up the Camaro, the suspect admitted to making the storing up. A summons was issued to the suspect for shoplifting over $100 by asporation.
