UPDATE: Stoughton Man Arrested, Charged with Fleeing Mansfield Crash

Police say Jimmy Archer of Stoughton fled a single-vehicle crash on Copeland Drive in Mansfield and led police on a foot pursuit.

MANSFIELD, MA — A man who police say fled a crash in Mansfield was taken into custody Friday afternoon.

Jimmy Archer, 24, of Stoughton, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, marked lanes violation resulting in a car crash, and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in injury, according to the Mansfield Police Department. He also had an active warrant.

Callers told police at about 10:30 p.m. that they observed a car crash on Copeland Drive near Times Past Automobiles, followed by two people fleeing the scene. The passenger, a woman in her 20s, entered the Mobil at the intersection of Central and Chauncy Streets and was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following an unsuccessful search, police requested a METROLEC K9 unit that was able to track Archer from Route 106 to Perkins Avenue. Additional information from witnesses placed the suspect in the area of Highland and Draper Avenue. After Archer was located outside the Dunkin' Donuts on Chauncy Street at about 12:14 p.m., he was taken into custody following a brief pursuit.

Archer is scheduled to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court.
