Massachusetts, along with many other states, are now asking for a waiver for the No Child Left Behind Act.With the release of this year's , many Massachusetts schools have not met their proficiency requirements. Critics of the law say that, even if a school is doing well, they may not get a good rating and funding if they do not meet their proficiency requirements. These requirements state that, almost like a publicly traded company on Wall Street, performance must be on an ever-increasing arc, which in turn labels schools that do well but do not increase performance as problematic.
