Route 106 Construction Set For Mid-August

Work on the road is expected to take about a week.

From the Mansfield Department of Public Works:

The Mansfield DPW-Highway Division working with Easton DPW has scheduled the reconstruction of Route 106 East/Eastman Streets from Stearns Avenue to the intersection of Wexford Drive and Monahan Lane.

This work involves several phases as indicated below, please be aware that the dates given are approximate and subject to change based on weather and individual contractor schedules.

Phase 1 – Milling night of Aug. 13 and 14. This phase involves milling approximately 2-inches of the existing asphalt surface. Start at 6PM and complete approximately 6 a.m.

Phase 2 – Full depth repairs of potholed areas. This will be done as needed immediately following milling.

Phase 3 - Tentatively scheduled for Aug. 17 and 18. Installation of Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayer (SAMI). This is also known as a rubber chip seal.

Phase 4 – Adjust Castings – Aug. 17 and 18. This phase involves the raising of castings in preparation for final paving.

Phase 5 - Final Paving – Tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Aug. 20th and the next night if needed.

Please note that the schedule is tentative and subject to weather and contractor delays. Please be aware that upon final paving, the road will have a 5-year “no dig” moratorium.
