Route 140 Crash Sends 1 To Hospital

Traffic near routes 140 and 106 was tied up for 45 minutes as a result.

MANSFIELD, MA — Two vehicles ended up near the bushes following a crash in Mansfield Thursday afternoon.

At about 2:07 p.m., Mansfield Police received several 911 calls reporting a crash at the intersection of routes 106 and 140. Officers at the scene found two vehicles off the road on opposite side of the intersection, stopped traffic and citizens were tending to the involved parties. A preliminary investigation indicated that one of the vehicles traveling on Route 140 South took a sharp left turn and crossed three lanes of travel against a red light. The second vehicle traveling north on Route 140, had a green light and struck the other vehicle in the center of the northbound lanes in the intersection. Both vehicles then spun across the intersection in opposite directions ending up off the roadway.

One person was transported to an area hospital.

A citation was issued to the offending operator, police said.

Traffic was tied up for about 45 minutes.
