School Canceled in Mansfield Due to Storm

The Mansfield Public Schools will be closed due to a snowstorm that is expected to hit Mansfield on Friday.

Mansfield Public Schools Superintendent Brenda Hodges announced today that school has been canceled on Friday, Feburary 8 due to the storm that is expected to hit Mansfield and most of Massachusetts.

In a statement released by Hodges, all school personnel have been asked to stay home with the exception of essential workers custodial and maintenance departments.

All extra curricular activities, athletic events and all practices have been canceled throughout the upcoming weekend.

In addition, Southeastern Regional Vocational Tech has also canceled school.

According to the National Weather Service, the area can expect the snow to start Friday morning and increase in intensity during Friday evening and early Saturday morning before tapering off Saturday afternoon.

The forecast calls for 18 to 24 inches of snow.

Mansfield is under a blizzard watch starting Friday morning until Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
