School Committee Approves New Assistant Superintendent Position

The new position is a reworking of the finance director position.

MANSFIELD, MA — Mansfield could soon be a school district with two assistant superintendents.

The school committee last week approved the job description and application for the assistant superintendent of finance and operation. The job is a reworking of the finance director position currently held by Ed Vozella, who has announced his intent to retire at the end of the school year.

The current assistant superintendent position, currently held by Teresa Murphy, will specialize in teaching and learning.

The posting has been published and applicants will be vetted by a search committee.

No salary is listed with the posting and is negotiable based on experience.

Murphy, who became the assistant superintendent in 2015, will become the superintendent at the end of the school year. The posting for that job is expected in three weeks, Murphy told the school committee.

The posting for the assistant superintendent of finance and operation position closes on March 1.
