School Committee Not to Use Remote Participation

The Mansfield School Committee tentatively agreed not to use the new policy on  the previous week. 

"I don't like the idea," committee member Jean Miller said. "I think it's important to have the face to face. As much as I'd like to stay home, I don't really endorse it."

While the committee did not vote or make an official policy on the issue, they all agreed that the remote participation policy would not be used by the committee. 

"We need to be here, we need to be able to interact with the audiance and say what we have to say," committee member Jim Perry said.

Chair Michael Trowbridge said it has never been an issue before, and that if it comes up, they can change their minds. The selectmen's decision only allow separate committees, commissions, etc. the ability to participate remotely in government meetings.

"Personally, I'm not really in favor of [the policy]," committee chair Michael Trowbridge said.  "I don't see an immediate need for it."
