Secret Service Questions Mansfield Man for Alleged Threats Against President

The man was taken into custody Friday for allegedly threatening to kill President Barack Obama.

A Mansfield resident was taken into custody Friday after allegedly making threats to kill President Barack Obama.

The man, whose name was not released, refused to leave his West Village apartment for over 1 1/2 hours before coming out without incident according to the Sun Chronicle. Just as officers from METRO-LEC arrived, he agreed to leave and was taken into the Mansfield police station by U.S. Secret Service agents and Mansfield police for questioning.

After a sweep of the building, items that were the cause of concern were discovered according to police. The building was evacuated at 2:15 p.m. and residents were allowed back inside around 6:30 p.m.

As a result of the investigation, the subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The matter remains under investigation by Mansfield police and U.S. Secret Service. Criminal charges are pending.
