Shoplifting Suspect Arrested After Chase Across School Street and Back

A Boston man accused of shoplifting at a store in Mansfield Crossing has been arrested by police, but not after a chase that ended in a sandwich shop across the street from the shopping center.
David Wang, 24, was charged with shoplifting over $100 by concealment, trespassing on railroad property, breaking and entering a building in the daytime, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and possession of a theft detection device.
After police received a 911 call for a report of two men shoplifting at L.L. Bean, officers responding to the incident were able to locate Wang, who refused to comply with police orders and fled on foot according to the Mansfield police.

Wang led officers on a chase across the street before he was discovered across the tracks behind Hub Folding Box on Norfolk Road before he once again ran towards the area around the mall, racing through retail establishments and to the back room of Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop .
The suspect was finally taken into custody after he attempted to flee from the rear of the store back towards the train tracks.

During the search around the tracks, Amtrack service was stopped.
The case remains under investigation as officers work to identify the second subject, who remains at large.
