Southern Mass. Art Festival Winners Announced

"Amazing talent” is what many people were saying when they viewed the on Mansfield’s South Common this past weekend. This was the that was creating such awestruck comments. “It was hard to choose the winners, there was really so much great art,” said one of the judges of the show.  Following is the list of this year’s winners and the categories in which they won:

 For Elementary art grades K-2: Best in show-Ben Farrar. In Drawing:  First Place Samuel Farrar. In  Painting: First Place Sydney Fernando; Second Place Jillian Koppy; Third Place Stella Scire. For Mixed Media: First Place Adam Johnson; Second Place Ben Bielan; Third Place Adam Johnson. In 3-D art: First Place Maya Ferrara; Second Place Maya Ferrara; Third Place Brandon Hooper.

For Grades 3-5: Best in Show- Mathew Bielan. In Drawing: First Place Liam Daly; Second Place Hannah Klain. In Painting: First Place Ryan Hart; Second Place Matthew Ferrara; Third Place Olivia Fernando. In Mixed Media: First Place Matthew Bielan; Second Place Caroline Kanevski; Third Place Liam Daly. In 3-D: First Place Samantha Shannon

For Middle School (Grades 6-8): Best of Show: Camryn Carabitses. Drawing: First Place Samantha Bielan. Painting: First Place Charlotte Breef-Pilz; Second Place Elizabeth Holwor; Third Place Jenna Crossley. The booth voted Best of Show was by Kathleen Ezersky, a photographer.

Thank you to the judges and the participating artists. We also thank the local cultural councils of Norton, Mansfield, Easton and Foxboro who were partial supporters of this arts festival. Thanks to their financial support we were able to keep the entries for the elementary school students and the Senior Citizens free. We also thank the officials of Mansfield who welcome us to the South Common each year for this wonderful event, and all of the volunteers who make it happen!
