Special Election For Open Selectman Seat Set For November
A special election will be held for the seat left open by the passing of Selectman George Dentino.

MANSFIELD, MA — The date has been set to determine who will fill the seat left open by the passing of Selectman George Dentino.
The selectmen voted Wednesday night to set Nov. 14 as election day. Candidates will have less than three weeks to pull papers and gather signatures.
Responding to questions about why the election couldn't wait until the next town election when Dentino's seat is on the ballot, Selectman Jess Aptowitz said the town charter requires a specific timeline to fill the seat. In addition, the upcoming state senate election in October does not allow for enough time to pull and return papers.

If you are interested in running, you can pull papers at the town clerk's office. Nomination papers require 50 signatures from residents who are registered voters.
Dentino passed away last month after suffering from severe head trauma in July.
