Suspect in Mansfield Police Chase No Shows Court Date

An arrest warrant has been issued for William Poirier

Mansfield, MA — A Marston Mills man charged in a Mansfield police chase did not appear in Attleboro District Court for his arraignment.

Due to his no show, an arrest warrant has been issued for William Poirier, 60, according to the Sun Chronicle. He is charged with failing to stop for police, driving with a revoked registration, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and disorderly conduct.

At about 9 a.m. Thursday morning, an assault was reported in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Francis Ave. Poirier, and Stephen Poirier, men were allegedly seen getting into a silver sedan as officers arrived on scene. During a traffic stop, officers attempted to place Stephen Poirier into custody and a brief struggle ensued, resulting in a minor injury to one of the officers. While the officers were attempting to gain control of Stephen, William Poirier fled in the silver Toyota Corolla on Oakland St. toward Foxborough.

The pursuit continued through Norton, into Taunton, and eventually came to a conclusion on Interstate 495 South in the area of Route 138 after Norton, Raynham, and state police had deployed “stop sticks” along the route. William was taken into custody by Norton police with the assistance of state police.
