UPDATE: Mansfield Train Station Closed Thursday Morning

Due to the incident, commuters should expect extremly heavy delays on the Providence line.

MANSFIELD, MA - One person has been killed by a train in Mansfield.

At 2:44 p.m. Wednesday, police in Mansfield responded to a train accident involving a pedestrian. The accident took place between the station and the Chocolate Factory, according to the Mansfield Fire Department. Witnesses confirm that a male subject was attempting to cross the tracks from the Crocker Street side of the tracks. Investigators are still attempting to identify the deceased party.

Due to the accident, the Mansfield train station will not be open Thursday morning. Commuters are advised to go to the Route 128 station in Westwood. There will be limited parking at Mansfield with limited busing service to Sharon. Delays on the Providence Line should be expected.
