Train Catches Fire In Mansfield

The fire temporarily closed the parking lot at the Foxborough Commuter Rail station.

MANSFIELD, MA — A freight train caught fire on Friday morning near the near the Mansfield-Foxborough line and temporarily closed the parking lot at Foxborough Commuter Rail station.

According to police, the train caught fire near County Street, shortly before 7 a.m. The cause of the fire was caused by sparks from the overhead lines, Mansfield Fire said.At 7:24 a.m., Mansfield police tweeted that the fire was extinguished.

No one was injured during the fire.
