Two Hospitalized After Car Crashes into Pole on Williams Street

The jaws of life were needed to extract the driver, firefighters said.

MANSFIELD, MA — Two people were taken to the hospital following a crash on Williams Street.

At 7 a.m., Mansfield police and fire responded to the reported crash near 21 Williams St. Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle that crashed into a nearby pole. The passenger was able to get out of the car with only minor injuries, but the driver required the jaws of life to be removed from the vehicle, the Mansfield Fire Department said.

The passenger was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital and the driver was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Mansfield Police Department.
