Two From Mansfield Found Dead in Maine

Four local people are dead after a case of carbon monoxide poisoning in a Maine cabin.

Four people from Attleboro and Mansfield have been found dead in a cabin at a campground in Byron, Maine.

Brooke Wakelin, 21, her boyfriend Keith Norris, 23, both of Attleboro; and Wakelin’s brother, Matthew Wakelin, 18, and his friend, Deanna Lee Powers, 22, both of Mansfield, were identified as the victims according to the Boston Herald.

According to authorities, the four died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The cabin did not have electricity and the four did not shut off the generator in the basement before going to bed.

Coos Canyon Cabins and Campground owner Judy Boucher said the father of two of the victims discovered the bodies Friday night, before calling 911 at Boucher’s niece’s house.

The four drove to the cabin on Tuesday to celebrate a graduation and birthday, according to Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant.
