During the early hours of July 23, 2015, a trooper on Forbes Boulevard near the Foxborough-Mansfield line reported a loud noise that came from behind him as he was approaching a traffic signal. The trooper at the time said that he saw a white man flee into the nearby wood line and a search of the area turned up a black powder rifle.

Rabinowitz was taken into custody last month when investigators found DNA on a hunting cap and ear muffs found in the woods that matched her DNA.
