Woman In Mansfield Saved From Apparent Suicide Attempt
Police say the woman was hanging on the edge of the Elm Street bridge with the intent to jump onto the train tracks.

MANSFIELD, MA — A woman who attempted to jump onto the train tracks under Elm Street was saved by police Monday morning.
At about 10:30 a.m., police received a 911 call from a motorist reporting a woman by the Elm Street bridge who appeared despondent. The caller tried tried to talk to the woman, but was unsuccessful, police said.
Officers at the scene found the woman, who scaled the bridge deck fencing and was hanging onto the fencing over the tracks. Police at the scene engaged the woman in conversation, convinced her not to jump, and assisted her to safety.

All trains traveling through Mansfield were halted during this period.
The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Her name was not released.
