9/11, 12 years later. Things like that weren't supposed to happen in the United States. Working for the Defense Department in Washington DC at the time of the attack was a horrific ordeal. Trying to put daily routine ahead of the grief is an extremely difficult task.
How far have we come? It's a long distance from a closed high school during the peace demonstrations in the 60s to a clearance project with the survivors of the Pentagon bombing. How does a journey like that involve single steps? Maybe Hawkeye Pierce from Maine can answer that, but I surely can't.
Life is what happens when you're trying to make plans.
