Marblehead's 13-year-old summer baseball team traveled up to Methuen on Friday night and despite a constant rainfall during the game, the Headers did everything right in delivering a 15-6 rain-shortened beating of the hosts.
Marblehead jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second, only to see Methuen tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. A nine-run eruption in the fifth inning proved to be the difference for Marblehead. With the win, Coach Dan Brothers' Headers kept their slim playoff hopes alive in the Suburban Pony League.
Eli Smith, Trey Blacker and Christian Rudloff combined to stifle the Methuen bats over five innings on the mound.

Defensively, shortstop Harrison Engstrom and catcher Teddy Camp were the stars with Engstrom recording several assists and Camp preventing several runs by blocking passed balls from his pitchers, who understandably had control problems with the wet ball. Engstrom and Camp also hit well for the winners. Centerfielder Justin Hurley gunned down a runner at second base and was on base three times with two walks and a single. Third baseman Jake Stead and left fielder Dan Peters had RBI singles. Right fielder Jacob Sundlie and second baseman Tyler Smith played well defensively and got on base several times.
Marblehead finishes its season Sunday with a 1 p.m. home game vs. Lowell at Seaside Park.
