47 Political Signs Reported Stolen

The following information was provided by the Marblehead Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log:

Saturday, Sept. 22:

  • At 9:39 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Roundhouse Road.
  • At 9:56 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Washington Street.
  • At 11:04 a.m., a Prospect Street woman called police to report that she received a letter in the mail saying that she received to free round-trip airline tickets and she believed it was a scam.
  • At 11:26 a.m., a resident entered the police station to discuss a vehicle that had been towed from Village Plaza.
  • At 11:39 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Washington Street.
  • At 1:59 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on Crowninshield Road.
  • At 2:50 p.m., a woman called police to report that there was a group of six to eight kids behind the Post Office smoking marijuana. Police reportedly checked the access road behind Marblehead High School but were unable to locate anyone. 
  • At 3:32 p.m., police assisted with a fall victim on Powder House Court.
  • At 3:59 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Countryside Lane.
  • At 6:30 p.m., police responded to a landlord dispute on Lee Street.
  • At 9:06 p.m., police responded to a report of three kids sitting on their front steps on Elm Street.
  • At 9:31 p.m., a Longview Drive resident called police to report that there were "kids running around the neighborhood ringing door bells" in the area of Longview Drive.
  • At  10:23 p.m., a resident on Ocean Avenue called police to report that "two white males with flashlights tipped over the porta potty." The Recreation and Parks Department was reportedly notified.
  • At 11:12 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Ocean Avenue involving a 2011 Mazda CX9 that had its side-view mirror knocked off.

  • At 12:23 a.m., police responded to a report of kids "trashing" the public bathroom at Devereux Beach.
  • At 1:41 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud group on Hawkes Street.
  • At 7:51 a.m., a Devereux Street woman called police to report that someone damaged her fence and her neighbor's fence overnight.
  • At  8:16 a.m., police responded to an accidental 911 call from a home on Humphrey Street.
  • At 11:23 a.m., a Ruby Avenue woman called police to report that a mountain bike was parked outside of her house for two days.
  • At 12:36 p.m., police checked in on the recipient of a harassment prevention order on Sewall Street.
  • At 1:02 p.m., a woman entered the police station to discuss a neighborhood dispute between her mother and some abutting neighbors on Washington Street.
  • At 1:18 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Village Street.
  • At 1:23 p.m., police received word that an elderly man at the information booth on Pleasant Street was "stopping every car that drove by." Responding officers were reportedly unable to locate the man.
  • At 3:46 p.m., a State Street man called police to report that it looked like someone tried to kick his door in while he was away on vacation.
  • At 4:54 p.m., police received a complaint about a block party on Carlton Road. Responding officers determined it was not a block party but just a group of kids on a front lawn playing.
  • At 4:56 p.m., police responded to a report of a construction crew working on Prospect Street.
  • At 5:48 p.m., a South Street resident called police to report a missing political sign. 47 political signs were reportedly stolen from Clifton Avenue, Atlantic Avenue and numerous other places.

Monday, Sept. 24:

  • At 2:44 a.m., police responded to a report of kids yelling at Seaside Park.
  • At 4:53 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man on Washington Street  who was reportedly checking cars with a flashlight.
  • At 6:05 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on School Street.
  • At 7:28 a.m., a Washington Street woman called police to report that her car was entered overnight.
