5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 26

1. Be prepared for some wet and windy weather today. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect powerful thunderstorms, likely after 1 p.m. Otherwise it will be cloudy, with a high near 77. 3. The Planning Board added a new member to their ranks during a joint meeting with the Board of Selectmen at Wednesday night. Bob Schnaeffer, a former member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, was appointed to the board. Click Here for our full story.

4. The Glover School Building Committee will meet this morning at the school system's administrative offices on Widger Road. The meeting, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., is expected to feature a discussion regarding the upcoming demolition of , according to the posted agenda.

5. Today in History: On July 26, 1775, the office that would later become the United States Post Office Department was established by the Second Continental Congress.
