9-Year-Olds Heating Up Wyoma Tournament
With the temperature in the 90s, the 9-year-old all-stars brought some heat of their own -- winning their fourth straight game in the Lynn tournament.

The Marblehead 9-year-old All-Stars recorded another win in dominant fashion, defeating Reading 16-2 on Saturday at Gowdy Memorial Playground in Lynn.
On a day in which the temperature reached 92 degrees, parents took the necessary precautions for the boys' safety -- providing ice, water, damp clothsand even a tarp to cover the team's bench for some much needed shade.
Marblehead's play in the field has been just as hot as the weather, only allowing a single hit in the past two games.

Eli Cohen put in another solid effort on the mound, pitching five innings with no walks, no runs, seven strikeouts and only one hit to Reading's first batter of the game. Spencer Perkins pitched a hitless sixth inning in relief to secure the win for Marblehead.
The local boys started the scoring early again, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Jake Miller that scored Jacob Garfield from third.

They extended their lead in the second, when Aiden Burke singled to knock in Charlie Young. Chris Gally scored on a passed-ball later in the inning to make the score 3-0.
In the fourth, Cohen and Charlie Kahn both reached on singles and rounded the bases because of inconsistent pitching from the Reading boys, bringing the score to 5-0.
Reading's pitching woes only worsened as the game progressed. Ten walks and numerous passed balls allowed Marblehead to score four runs in the fifth inning and seven more in the sixth to put the game out of reach indefinitely.
Amazingly, Marblehead has scored 47 runs in the tournament so far, and has only allowed their opponents seven in the four games.
They look forward to continued success at their next game against the Wyoma Blue on July 21 at 5:30 p.m.
