A Small Fire and a Teen Who Didn't Want to Go to School

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log on Tuesday.

  • At 7:59 a.m. Tuesday, a Broughton Road resident called to report that her teenage son refuses to go to school. An officer spoke to the teenager.
  • At 11:16 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Green Street. A motorist reportedly struck a parked car. Police left a note in the parked car's owner's mailbox with information about the driver of the other vehicle. The owner of the parked car went to the station because she only has local phone service and could not contact the other car's driver. She also reported seeing a neighbor tampering with her car over the summer.
  • At 12:47 p.m. Tuesday, a Mechanic Street resident reported that her landlord tried to gain entry to her apartment by using a key and didn't knock. Police spoke to both parties and it appears to be a misunderstanding.
  • At 3:27 p.m. Tuesday, a Green Street resident reported a truck was blocking a driveway. Police arrived and found the only truck in the area is legally parked and not causing a problem.
  • At 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, police arrested John T. Hodges, 19, 24 Lincoln Ave., and charged him with violating an abuse prevention order.
  • At 7:29 p.m. Tuesday, public safety officials responded to a fire on the outside of a Shepard Street home. When firefighters arrived, they found burning debris in the driveway and that only a small section of fence had caught fire. Fire officials said the fire was caused by the improper disposal of ashes.
