Marblehead Arts Association Names New Board President

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The Marblehead Arts Association announced a new president of its board during the organization's annual meeting in the garden of the historic King Hooper Mansion.

In a message to the community, Amy Goldfarb has lived in Marblehead for 30 years and described a long connection to the town and its arts scene. She said she is an artist and said her background includes two master's degrees, earlier careers in healthcare and corporate finance, and ownership of two small art businesses.

She first took part in a holiday market at the Marblehead Arts Association in 2018 and then became a member of the organization. In the years that followed, she worked in the MAA Artisan Shop and assisted the executive director with projects related to membership, programs, events and rentals.

She has served as treasurer of the board for the past three years. In that role, she said she evaluated the organization’s finances, eliminated redundancies and implemented a new point-of-sale system.

She said that the system improved the experience for staff, artist vendors and customers.

"I’d like to thank the community for supporting me as the new President of the Board at the Marblehead Arts Association (MAA), which was officially announced on Wednesday June 17th at the Annual Meeting in the garden of the historic King Hooper Mansion," Goldfarb said.

She said she plans to focus on both programming and operations in the new role.

"As president, I plan to revitalize the Marblehead Arts Association by introducing new systems and innovative programs, continuing to focus on our mission of providing art to the community and preserving the historic King Hooper Mansion, and building on more than 100 years of success as an integral part of the Marblehead arts community,” she said.

She said she is committed to improving operations, strengthening the membership experience and maintaining financial stability, and that she looks forward to the year ahead with the support of the board.

"I'm committed to achieving greater operational efficiencies, enhancing the membership experience and ensuring ongoing financial stability," she said.

The new president said she will be available at the Marblehead Arts Association once a week for office hours. Office hours, along with information about exhibits, events and art classes, will be posted here.
