Marblehead High Graduates Awarded Sterny's Way Scholarships

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Two members of Marblehead High School's class of 2026 have been named this year's Sterny's Way Scholarship recipients, with Kai Rozinsky receiving the arts award and Ryan Angilly receiving the sports award.

The annual scholarships are given in memory of David Stern, a former Marblehead youth sports coach and supporter of the arts who died in 2010.

The scholarships were formally established in 2019. According to the announcement, Sterny's Way, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and the annual scholarships are funded with community support.

The organization awards $2,500 to a Marblehead High School graduate who has shown dedication to the arts and another graduate who participated in Marblehead Youth Softball or Marblehead Youth Baseball.

Rozinsky, the Sterny's Way Arts Scholarship recipient, is described in the announcement as an accomplished graphic designer and freelance photographer whose work has been displayed at the Marblehead Arts Association.

One of his notable experiences at Marblehead High came when his photography teacher asked him to take group and superlative pictures of students with special needs for the MHS yearbook. That experience helped him strengthen existing relationships and build new ones with classmates.

Rozinsky also volunteered for Rick Jakious' 6th Congressional District campaign and served as a camp counselor for children with East Coast Stand Up Paddle Boarding. He graduated with a 3.75 GPA, earned Honor Roll recognition as a freshman and sophomore and High Honor Roll as a junior and senior. At MHS, he was a member of the ice hockey, baseball, cross-country and track and field teams.

He will attend the University of Vermont and plans to major in Parks, Recreation and Tourism and minor in Photography.

Angilly, the Sterny's Way Sports Scholarship recipient, was a four-year member of the Magicians' baseball and ice hockey teams and a three-year member of the basketball team. During his senior year, he served as captain and first baseman for Mike Giardi's MHS baseball squad.

He earned the Mark Tarmey Perseverance, Dedication and Leadership Award in hockey, the William A. Gillis Coaches Award in football, the Marblehead High School Wellness Award in his sophomore and junior years, and JV hockey team MVP in 2024-25.

Angilly also volunteered as a coach for the Magicians baseball and softball clinic, the Marblehead Youth Baseball Winter Clinic and the Marblehead Youth Football Camp for students in grades 3 through 8.

As part of his senior project, he helped prepare and maintain the fields at Gatchell's Park. He graduated with a 3.6 GPA, was a consistent member of the MHS Honor Roll and will attend the University of New Hampshire this fall, majoring in business.
