6 Hospitalized In Marblehead Harbor Boat Crash Overnight

Two victims suffered serious injuries after the boat crashed on top of Grays Rock.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Six people were hospitalized following a boat crash and water rescue in the waters off State Street Landing in Marblehead overnight Thursday.

Marblehead fire said the victims had injuries that ranged from minor to serious in the crash that left the boat completely out of the water on top of Grays Rock in the harbor.

Marblehead police said on Friday afternoon that two people suffered serious injuries, two suffered what are believed to be minor injuries, and two were treated at area hospitals and have since been released.

Harbormasters from Marblehead, Beverly and Salem also responded to the crash reported at about 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Marblehead fire said the harbormasters rescued three victims from the water. Fire crews, assisted by the Salem harbormaster, found an additional victim near the crash scene at Grays Rock and transferred them to the Marblehead harbormaster boat, where emergency medical care was administered.

The Salem harbormaster then took two additional occupants with minor injuries to State Street Landing after confirming that all individuals involved in the incident had been accounted for.

Marblehead Police officers assisted Beauport Ambulance personnel with preparing the victims to be taken to area hospitals.

"The Marblehead Fire Department extends its sincere appreciation to all of the agencies whose coordinated response ensured a rapid and effective rescue operation," Marblehead fire said. "We thank the Marblehead Harbormaster, Salem Harbormaster's Office, Beverly Harbormaster, U.S. Coast Guard, Marblehead Police Department, Beauport Ambulance Service, Inc., and the Marblehead Fire and Police 911 Dispatchers for their outstanding teamwork and professionalism throughout this incident."
