1. Marblehead Ballet Seeks Donations, Volunteers For Holiday Auction (patch.com) — Marblehead residents are being asked to donate items or funds to support the North Shore Civic Ballet's upcoming online holiday auction, which funds scholarships and program needs. Donations can be dropped off at the Marblehead School of Ballet by appointment, with proceeds helping local students access training, choreography, costumes, and educational projects.
2. Tribute in Abbot Hall to be unveiled on Veteran's Day (marbleheadweeklynews.com) — Marblehead will dedicate a 200‑year‑old wooden chair in Abbot Hall on Veterans Day as a permanent tribute to prisoners of war and service members missing in action. Spearheaded by Veteran Service Officer Roseann Trionfi‑Mazzuchelli with support from local groups, the project aims to educate residents and give veterans and families a place to pause and reflect on sacrifice.
3. Board of Health trades drinking for racing (marbleheadweeklynews.com) — Marblehead's Board of Health is planning a Nov. 6 townwide "Amazing Race"-style scavenger hunt for high school students, capped with a bonfire at Goldthwait Reservation, as a fun alternative to drinking. Teams will start at Marblehead High, follow clues to spots around town, and compete in challenges designed with student input, with local groups and Marblehead Bank helping support the low‑cost event.
4. Marblehead lands $718K Rail Trail grant as new volunteer group launches (marbleheadcurrent.org) — Marblehead just secured a $718,444 state grant to push its 4.5‑mile Rail Trail to construction‑ready design, including safer crossings, drainage and accessibility upgrades. At the same time, residents have launched Friends of the Marblehead Rail Trail to organize volunteer maintenance, and the town will hold a community meeting this fall to debate how rustic or upgraded the trail's future should be.
5. Swampscott Awarded $1.4 Million State Grant for Pine Street Water Infrastructure (swampscotttides.org) — Marblehead is receiving $718,445 in state funding to advance design and engineering for improvements to the Marblehead Rail Trail, part of a broader regional package of One Stop for Growth grants.
