Gordon L. Brown, Jr.

Gordon Lincoln Brown, Jr., age 81, died peacefully at the
Kaplan Family Hospice Home in Danvers, MA on January 10, 2013, surrounded by
his family and loved ones. 

Gordon was born in Lynn, MA on March 14, 1931,
the son of Gordon Lincoln Brown and Alice Mae (Cotton) Brown.  He was raised in Swampscott, MA and graduated
from Swampscott High, attended Hebron Academy and graduated from Middlebury
College in Middlebury, VT.  While at
Middlebury, he met and married Judith Berry and raised three children in
Marblehead, MA.  Gordon owned and ran the
Willard D. Martin Insurance and Real Estate Agency and was involved in many
community organizations including the Marblehead YMCA, the North Shore Red
Cross and the Marblehead Jaycees. 
Gordon, aka “Bomber”, was an avid skier and was a long standing ski
patroller at Mt Whittier in Ossipee, NH where he and his family spent most
weekends and summers.  In addition to
skiing, Gordon loved to sail, golf, and travel and beat most of his family and
friends at cribbage. 

He was predeceased by his wife Judy of 42 years, his
grandson Jared and is survived by his loving companion of 15 years, Sylvia
Swain of Marblehead, MA and North Conway, NH. 
Gordon’s surviving family includes his brother Roger Brown of Gypsum,
CO, his brother-in-law Wendell Berry of Newport, NH and his wife Judith, his
daughter Donna Schuler of Windham, NH and her husband Ronald Schuler, son
Douglas Brown of Kezar Falls, ME and his partner Audrey Harris and his son
Geoffrey Brown of Chester, VT and his partner Mark Martins.  Extended family includes Gary Swain of
Marblehead, MA and his wife Sheelagh Swain, and Mandy Sylvester of Salem, MA
and her husband Martin Sylvester.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Annalese (Brown)
Balser and husband Chad, Kirsten Schuler, Kurt Schuler, Cassie (Brown) Ennis
and husband Sean, Matthew Brown as well as 4 great grandchildren, Beau, Rylee,
Colton and Jared.  Additionally, Gordon
is survived by 6 nephews Gordy, Michael, Nick, Jed, Christian and Thor Erik,
his niece Debbie and an extended grandson, Nicholas. 

Arrangements include a memorial service followed by conversation
and refreshments at the Old North Church 35 Washington St,  Marblehead MA, 01945  at 11 am on Saturday, January 19th,
2013.

At the family’s request, there are no visiting hours.
